  • A bass drum
  • A snare drum
  • Two tom-toms
  • A hi-hat
  • A cymbal

The bass drum is the largest drum in the set and is played with a foot pedal. The snare drum is the second largest drum and is played with sticks. The tom-toms are the two smaller drums and are also played with sticks. The hi-hat is a pair of cymbals that are played with a foot pedal. The cymbal is a single cymbal that is played with a stick.

There are two main ways to hold drumsticks: matched grip and traditional grip. Matched grip is the most common way to hold drumsticks and is used by most drummers. Traditional grip is less common and is used by some jazz and marching band drummers.

To hold the drumsticks in matched grip, place your right hand on the stick with your thumb and forefinger on the top of the stick and your middle, ring, and pinky fingers on the bottom of the stick. Place your left hand on the stick with your thumb and forefinger on the bottom of the stick and your middle, ring, and pinky fingers on the top of the stick.

To hold the drumsticks in traditional grip, place your right hand on the stick with your thumb and forefinger on the top of the stick and your middle, ring, and pinky fingers on the bottom of the stick. Place your left hand on the stick with your thumb and forefinger on the bottom of the stick and your middle, ring, and pinky fingers on the side of the stick.

There are a few basic drumming techniques that you need to know in order to play songs. These techniques include:

  • Single strokes: Single strokes are the most basic drumming technique. To play a single stroke, simply strike the drum with one stick.
  • Double strokes: Double strokes are two single strokes played in quick succession. To play a double stroke, strike the drum with one stick, then quickly strike the drum again with the other stick.
  • Rolls: Rolls are a series of single strokes played very quickly. To play a roll, simply strike the drum with one stick, then quickly alternate between the two sticks.
  • Fills: Fills are short, improvisational drum patterns that are used to fill in the gaps between songs or sections of songs. To play a fill, simply improvise a drum pattern that sounds good to you.

Drum music is written on a staff with five lines. The top line of the staff represents the cymbals, the second line represents the hi-hat, the third line represents the snare drum, the fourth line represents the bass drum, and the fifth line represents the tom-toms.

Drum notes are written as small black circles. The position of the note on the staff indicates which drum to play. The duration of the note indicates how long to play the note.

Now that you know the basics of drumming, you're ready to start playing some popular songs. Here are a few popular songs that are easy to play on the London Great Start drumset:

  • "We Will Rock You" by Queen: This song is a classic rock anthem with a simple drum beat that's easy to play.
  • "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple: This song is a rock classic with a memorable drum riff that's easy to learn.
  • "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson: This song is a pop classic with a funky drum beat that's fun to play.
  • "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes: This song is a modern rock classic with a simple drum beat that's easy to learn.
  • "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga: This song is a pop classic with a catchy drum beat that's easy to play.
